Your body is a shrine that houses all your organs, which work together to keep you healthy and help you function everyday. It's the one and only body you will have - you can't swap it, nor can you replace it.

Many of us take our health for granted. We do not realise that when our health fails, it overshadows everything else that's going on in our lives. Poor health leads to a negative body image, physical tiredness, emotional distress and other illnesses.

1. Listen To Your Body
Our body is constantly communicating its needs to us, do not ignore them! When you feel hungry, eat. When you feel thirsty, drink. When your bladder is full, visit the washroom. When you feel tired, rest. When in pain, don't ignore it. When feeling unwell, seek your doctor's advice.

2. Exercise, Exercise, Exercise!
Workout to a healthier you by exercising at least three times a week. Not only does it help you to keep in shape, it also gives your skin a healthy glow!

3. Say 'No' To Junk Food
You are what you eat. Go easy on fried, processed or preserved foods, and avoid buying foods containing artificial ingredients.

4. Avoid Overeating
It is easy to overeat when you are hungry. Chew on your food slowly and keep to the "three-quarters full" rule. Wait ten to fifteen minutes before reaching for a second serving. Chances are, by then, you would feel full.

5. Stop Poisoning Yourself
Alcohol, nicotine, drugs, excessive stress, and copious amounts of caffeine can undermine your health and cause a bad complexion.

6. Water It Down
Our bodies are made up of 50% to 75% water. Replenishing your body's water content is crucial for it to function at an optimal level. Drink at least eight to ten glasses of water a day to stay hydrated.

7. Get Sufficient Sleep & Rest

8. Think Positive
Is your glass half-full or half-empty? Our body reflects what we think, feel and act - this is known as the mind-body connection. A poor body image and weak emotional health can affect the body's immune system, making us more likely to feel depressed, anxiety, and physically unwell. Learn to manage your emotions and look on the bright side.

9. Sweet Treats
Every once in a while, treat yourself to a good haircut, some new clothes, a massage, manicure and pedicure, or indulge your favourite foods. If you feel good, you look good!
